Been Meaning To

I’ve been meaning to call a friend for awhile.  I moved, but we’ve stayed in touch.  Life zings along, though, and it’s easy for time to pass without actually connecting.  People get so busy with the day-to-day that a lot of “meaning to” never happens.  That’s a loss, but where’s the time to do it?

Socrates said, “the unexamined life is not worth living.”  I was just going through my routine without much thought.  I broke out of the rut just a little to do the small thing that I’d been meaning to.  Here’s the secret: it felt better than the routine.  Heaping guilt on myself would’ve just wasted time and energy.  So without guilt, is there something you’ve been meaning to do?  Could you do it now?
