The best strategy seems to be to focus on what makes us happy. I touched on this in an earlier post Of Raccoons and Roses It doesn’t help to ignore problems or work, but chasing down ugliness and unpleasantness only hinders. It was easy to choose while holding the camera and thinking about what to photograph.
How often, though, do we let our thoughts travel down paths that we know hold only unpleasantness and ugliness? How often do we hold onto old grudges and anger, for example? How often does focusing on an old failure keep us from trying again? Maybe no one ever defeats us. Maybe instead we defeat ourselves.
Sun Tzu said, “Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.” Focus on what you can do, or try, or even plan. Take time to enjoy beauty in the world, too. To help with that, here are some more of the nature pictures that I took:
