On Writing Better: Process as Problem Solving

Following a process plus cognitive flow leads naturally to steady improvement. As long as I keep working little bit by bit to make the details better with that medium level of challenge, that’s a great recipe for improvement. This probably translates well to most tasks, not just writing. The writing process is really creative idea generation and execution plus systematic, evaluative revision, and that essentially mirrors the problem-solving steps. The steps keep me focused without being overwhelmed while the balanced attitude keeps me positive but humble. (Well, that’s sometimes more of an ideal than an achieved state, but maybe something similar works for you too!)
